Wet n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stains

It was only a matter of time before Wet n Wild got in on the 'jumbo lip pencil' trend. I'm not complaining, because I'm a sucker for lip pencils. I have tried and loved so many different ones high end and drugstore, so of course I had to get these ones! 

I could only find five shades, but there are six in total. I also heard that these are going to be permanent, so there's no need to worry about rushing out to find them!

Swatches from top to bottom: Nudist Colony, A Stiff Pink, Reddy or Not, Rico Mauve, and Lady and the Vamp. 

Nudist Colony is yellowy beige. A Stiff Pink is a bright blue based pink, Reddy or Not is a blue based cherry red. Rico Mauve is a deep pinky mauve. Lady and the Vamp is a bright reddish purple. These were two swipes each, all shades have a cream finish. 

Claims: I couldn't find any claims on these yet! 
Pigmentation: They are nicely pigmented. One or two swipes will get you full color. The stain they leave behind is also pigmented and not patchy. 
Finish/Texture:The finish is creamy with a subtle shine. The texture is very smooth.
Lasting Power: It lasted on me for about 3 hours. The shine dies down after that, and the stain it leaves behind is even and not dry or patchy looking. 
Scent: I didn't notice any scent.
Packaging: The caps on the tubes are really loose, so these may be hard to travel with.
Price/Availability: I paid $3 and ( I also got BOGO 50% off )each at CVS        


Likes:

• Pigmented
• Stain wears evenly
• Nice variety of colors
• Inexpensive
• Creamy finish & texture

Dislikes:

• They don't feel hydrating
• Cap easily falls off
• Aren't as long lasting as other drugstore stains

Overall:

These didn't really knock my socks off, but I think that they are 'okay' for the price. They did leave behind a decent stain, and the pigmentation is impressive. However, I wasn't crazy about the way that these felt on my lips.. they aren't moisturizing at all. Be careful if you tend to have dry lips, because I feel like that could be an issue.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend these over the Hard Candy All Glossed Up pencils, or the Jordana Twist and Shines, but I do think that some people will find these enjoyable since they are pretty cheap compared to most drugstore stains. These aren't anywhere near being a favorite for me, but I don't think that they are terrible. All in all, I would say if you want to try them, wait for them to go on sale.

Jordana Twist and Shine Moisturizing Balm Stains

I have been wearing these Jordana Twist and Shine Moisturizing Balm Stains non-stop since I bought them about a week ago. The colors are gorgeous and the formula is as hydrating as a lip balm! The staining claim isn't really accurate, but these are still some of the best lip pencils I've ever tried. I have found my holy grail lip pencil! 

The packaging is very similar to the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains. It's a plastic tube with a twist applicator.  There is no sharpener, so these tips will dull over time.

Each balm has a very glossy, creamy, and smooth finish. None of these colors have shimmer in them, which is another huge plus for me.

Cranberry Crush is a muted berry purple. Honey Love is a dusty brownish-mauve. Tropical Frenzy is a bright blue toned pink. Rock N Rouge is a bright blue toned red. Cadied Coral is a soft, peachy coral. I really like all of these shades! 

Claims: "Moisturizing Balm Infused with a Light-Weight Stain, Applies with a Glossy Finish then Transforms into the Perfect Flush of  Color. Long-Lasting."
Finish/Texture: The finish of each of these is glossy. It does dry down a bit, but it doesn't look matte. The texture is super smooth and creamy. 
Lasting Power: The lasting power isn't the best, it's only lasts about three to four hours on my lips. These are not long lasting at all, especially for a stain! 
Scent: These have a very sweet candy, vanilla scent to them. It is strong at first but fades one it's applied. 
Packaging: The packaging is just a plastic twist-up tube. The cap closes securely. 
Price/Availability: I paid $3.29 each for these at Walgreens

Likes: 

• Nice variety of shades
• Very pigmented
• Creamy texture
• Easy to use
• Inexpensive 
• Keeps lips hydrated

Dislikes:

• Doesn't stain lips
• Hard to find (Walgreens Jordana displays are hard to find/usually empty)
• Isn't long lasting

Overall:

Honestly, these are better than any other jumbo lip pencil that I've used at the drugstore. These feel like a high end lip pencil, similar to a Clinique Chubby Stick. Many people are comparing these to the Revlon Kissable Balm Stains, but these aren't dupes. These are more of a hydrating balm, and the Revlon ones are more of a drying stain. 

The formula is wonderfully smooth and creamy on my lips. I enjoy the way that they make my lips feel like I'm wearing a lip balm. The hydration is amazing. The colors are all gorgeous and very pigmented. I love that they are so inexpensive too.  These didn't stain my lips much, so they aren't long lasting at all. However, everything else about these balms is perfect. 

If you can find the Jordana Twist and Shine Balm Stains in your area, I highly suggest trying them!

Wet N' Wild Megalast Liquid Lip Color

Let me start off by saying, this is the weirdest texture I have ever encountered in a lip product. I don't know exactly what Wet N Wild was trying to achieve here. I have searched everywhere on their website and couldn't find any claims! In general I am a fan of liquid lipsticks (I think that's what this product is) but the formula was unbelievably unpleasant. Wet N' Wild has some drugstore gems, but this isn't one of them.

I picked up 3 of the 13 available shades: Back to the Fuchsia, Red My Mind, and Click on my Hyperpink.

As you can see, the wands are very messy. The tube inside doesn't have a wiper, causing the doefoot applicators to have too much product.

Back to the Fuchsia is a medium raspberry pink. Red my Mind is a true red that leans a bit towards the cooler side. Click on my Hyperpink is a light cool toned pink. These three shades are all matte and don't contain any glitter or sparkle. Click here, to see a lip swatch (Just warning you it isn't pretty!)

Claims: I couldn't find any claims on this product! 
Packaging: These lip colors are packaged in a plastic tube that has an hour-glass shaped handle. The doefoot applicator is loaded with too much product. 
Pigmentation: The pigmentation is definitely there. Each lip color gives opaque, bright color within one swipe. There's a wide variety of shades to choose from (nudes, reds, shimmers, etc)
Finish/Texture: This is the biggest problem with this product, the texture and finish are both very unflattering. After the lip color dries, it leaves your mouth looking cracked and extremely dry. The texture feels very thick, although the product itself is a bit thin (I told you it was weird). After these set, they make your mouth feel dehydrated! Yuck.
Scent: There was a strong chemical scent to these. 
Lasting Power: I couldn't stand the way my lips felt like they were being suffocated, so I removed this product immediately. The swatches stained my arm and lips for a few days.
Price/Availability: I paid $3.50 for each at Walgreens

Likes:

• Bright, excellent pigmentation
• Variety of colors

Dislikes:

• The texture is very thick and slippery at first
• Once it dries, it makes your lips feel extremely dry
• Makes lips appear to be cracked/emphasizes lines
• Feels very uncomfortable
• Stains your lips/skin 
• Difficult to remove

Overall:
Wet N' Wild usually is a hit or miss for me. They have some really good products, and then products like this that aren't quality. What I disliked most about these is the way they felt on my mouth, like I hadn't used lip balm in 10 years. Once these dry, they are extremely difficult to remove (it takes serious scrubbing with makeup remover). The overall finish is very unflattering, since lines are emphazised, and makes lips appear cracked. The chemical scent and wasteful packaging are also things that bother me with this product. 

It was strange to me that I couldn't find any claims on these liquid lip colors.  I am truly curious on what Wet N' Wild had in mind when creating these. They remind me of a liquid lipstick, but they also stain, so I am not sure what the goal is. The formula is nothing like a general stain or liquid lipstick, it is more like a "24 hour" or long-lasting lipstick.  If I find any information about the claims I'll be updating this post! 

Maybelline Super Stay 10 Hour Stain Gloss

Even some of my favorite brands turn out flops, and the Maybelline Super Stay 10 Hour Stain Glosses are no exception. It was unbelievable how poorly these "stain glosses" performed. I was unsatisfied and disappointed to say the least!

The packaging is quite bulky and reminds me of a mascara tube. Also, the lettering on the front started to scratch off somehow, making me feel that the packaging is cheap. Definitely not the prettiest, or sleekest packaging.

The wand was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. I actually liked the unique oval-spoon shape of the applicator. It allowed me to apply color precisely and give me more control.

Pigmentation: The pigmentation is quite sheer, but that is expected with a stain. They don't layer very well, making the color difficult to build up. (Flaking occurs when layering). 
Finish/Texture: These claim to give a glossy finish, but the gloss wears off into a matte finish within minutes. Normally, this wouldn't bother me, but since it claims to stay glossy for 10 hours, I have to take that into consideration. 
Scent: As you know, I hate it when products are strongly scented. These remind me of grape soda, which is a rather odd choice for a lip product (plus I hate grape soda). I have never owned anything that smelled this strongly of grape before. The grape scent lingers throughout the day, it was unbearable for me. They also had a really strange, bitter taste that was horrible.
Lasting Power:  Seriously, these took forever to dry! Almost instantly after drying, I was shocked to see that the stain had settled into each and every line my lips has. The 10 hour stain glosses don't even have an hour's worth of staying power. 
Price/Availablity: I paid $6.94 per stain at Target. These are available at most drugstores.

Likes:

• Unique wand allowed precise application

Dislikes:

• Settled into lines quickly/doesn't apply evenly
• Shine disappeared quickly
• Flaking occurs when trying to layer
• Color only lasted about an hour before completely fading
• Takes about 5 minutes to dry after application
• Leaves lips feeling dry/uncomfortable
• Smells strongly of grape, has a bitter taste

Overall:
Obviously, these could never have lasted 10 hours. I already had a feeling that these weren't going to live up to such a claim, but the way that they performed was a disgrace. The shine barely lasted a minute, while the color faded within the hour. The grape soda smell was overwhelming, and the taste was disgustingly bitter. The worst thing about these stains is that they settle into the lines of your lips, even when a thin layer is applied. I have never had such a problem 

Sadly, this is one of the worst products I have tried from Maybelline. I usually am a fan of their lip products (I love the Color Sensational Lipsticks and High Shine Glosses) but these stains just didn't work at all.
