Haul: More New 2014 Drugstore Makeup!

Happy 2014 everyone!  I hope you all had an amazing holiday! I realize that I haven't actually posted on here since before Christmas, so it's been a while! I thought it would be fitting to start off my first post of the new year with a haul! Once again there are more products out for the new year, let's take a look..

Covergirl Tru Blend Foundation - Have you seen the commercials for this foundation? They claim that this range of foundation matches 99% of all women. HAHA, that made me roll my eyes so hard.. this one turns orange on me and it's way too dark to begin with AND it's the lightest shade in the line (L1). Also there aren't many dark shades? So yeah, not too happy with it and the formula didn't amaze me either.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation- I tried this on a whim, it doesn't work well with my dry skin. The shade is light porcelain, it's a bit too yellow for me. The formula claims to be lightweight, but to me it feels heavy. Not a fan of this one either.

Rimmel Stay Matte Primer- Ok, this stuff is great. I've been using it the past week and I'm amazed. It gives a matte finish while leaving the skin feeling hydrated. It feels like a lotion, it reminds me a lot of Smashbox PhotoFinish Light. Recommend.

Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder- This cute little compact is something that I just recently found at the drugstore. Unfortunately Porcelain Ivory is the lightest shade, it totally looks so much darker than it's showing in this photo.. I was so sad because it feels very soft!

Physicians Formula Nude Wear Blush- This blush is so chalky and awful. I really hate it, it's probably the worst blush I have ever tried from PF! It claims to have 'perfecting nude pigments'... nope.

Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Sticks- These are actually amazing. I've been loving how cute they are, just look at them! No, but really they're pigmented and really blendable. This is probably the first ever drugstore blush stick I'm a fan of.

Maybelline Master Hi-Light Highlighting Blush- More blush from Maybelline! These are basically shimmery blushes. I'm not crazy about them.. feeling a bit 'meh'.

Covergirl Bombshell Shine Shadow- This is a cream shadow in a tube. It's nothing special, this was the only color that I thought would be nice. It's honestly just a shimmery mess. It's too gooey and greasy. Just an all around no for me. NO NO NO.

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Curl and Care Mascara- I haven't used this yet. I found it last night at Rite Aid. I really love the other Organic Wear mascaras, so we'll see.

Will you be trying any of these new products?

  9. I'm curious about the Stay Matte primer. I tried the foundation on my hand and it feels very thick and way too dark.

  11. I want to try the maybelline blush and foundation! My sister bought the Rimmel foundation and she actually liked it. I have 2 of the PF blushes, and I hate them too! I have only used them once, I will give them another chance. Great post!

  12. I actually saw at Wal Mart the new Master line from Maybelline and I was so tempted to buy the blush sticks, but I have made a resolution for the new year not to buy so many cosmetics, so I've laid back. :)
May the new 2014 brings you a lot of accomplisments and joy!
    Hugs,

  14. I nearly bought one or two of the blush sticks the other day but held back so I could see some reviews. It's on my shopping list now. I also scrutinized those new nude lipsticks the other day. I'm about as light as you but a tad pinker. The lightest and third-lightest shades I really liked, but they were too warm/yellow. I tried the one between them (Blushing Beige) and it is actually really nice for me, especially over a slightly pinker nude lip liner. I may go back to check out the fourth-lightest (I don't have the names and I think there were about 8-10 shades) for later in the spring. The one I have reminds me of a wonderful old Revlon I went through a couple of tubes of in the '90s/early 2000s. I really haven't worn true nudes since then but I thought I'd give this a shot. Can't wait to recreate that old '90s look with pencil, lipstick, powder (back before there were matte lipsticks, that's how we did it and it's actually much less drying than the current all-in-one mattes and has great staying power). Time to sacrifice an old translucent compact for lip duty! :)

    1. I tried some of the darker ones at the store and they just looked weird on me! I'm not really into nude lips in general though. Hopefully you can check out the blush sticks, they are so awesome. I'm really loving them! :)

  15. I used Rimmel London Stay Matte foundation years ago, it was a little too matte/cakey/dry for my skin at the time. I wanted to give it another try but had a hard time finding it! I'm glad to see so many people talking about it now, hopefully it won't be hard to find and I can give it another shot. I guess I'll have to pick up the primer too. Haha.

  16. That's so disappointing about the Physicians Formula Nude Wear Blush - the packaging looks quite cute and the colour really pretty. Shame about the Covergirl Tru Blend Foundation as well ... finding a perfect shade match is the hardest part about foundations I find.

  17. I saw the Maybelline Blush Sticks and was so intrigued. I almost bought them but then all those memories of terrible experiences with drugstore cream blushes flooded my head and I left them at the store :( I also want to try the Cover Girl Tru Match. The packaging and display stands look quite appealing x
