Flower Beauty Lip Butter in Cherry Chiffon

If you have been keeping up with my reviews, you know that my past experiences with Flower Beauty left me disappointed. This time around, I was actually surprised that this product was better than the rest, but it still didn't perform as well as I thought it would. 

 I'm definitely not a fan of the bulky packaging of the lip butter tube.

Flower Beauty Lip Service Lip Butter in Cherry Chiffon

Cherry Chiffon is a bright tomato red that leans towards the warm side. In certain lighting, this color can look a bit more orange than red, which I don't like personally. The finish is very shiny, and the texture is a bit slippery. This is a lip product that needs babysitting.

Claims: "Buttery-like texture glides on easily, leaving lips looking smooth and full, Rich texture provides an optical plumping effect, High percentage of emollient oil for a super-smooth, shiny finish, Non-Tacky Superior Shine"
Pigmentation: The pigmentation is great. The color is semi-transparent, but the color is still full and super vibrant! The pigmentation is the best thing about Cherry Chiffon.
Finish/Texture: The finish is very shiny, but it wears off after about an hour. The stick itself is a bit stiff, unlike any other lip butters I have tried. It didn't hydrate my lips, or make them feel smooth at all. The texture was thin, slippery, and a bit greasy to me. 
Lasting Power: The shine and color only lasted about an hour on me.
Scent: There was no scent that I could detect.
Packaging: The packaging is very bulky and impractical, but it's durable! 
Price/Availability: I paid $7 at Walmart

Dislikes:

• Bulky packaging
• Color/Shine fades quickly
• Texture feels greasy/thin
• Bleeds throughout the day
• Doesn't live up to claims

Overall:
Although this is one of the better lip products in the Flower Beauty line, it still didn't impress me. Cherry Chiffon is a pretty color with great pigmentation, but it doesn't live up to its claims. 
This lip butter had a greasy texture that sat on top of my lips and feathered considerably. It didn't hydrate them, make them look fuller, or smoother. It was odd that the stick actually felt a bit stiff, even though the color easily swiped onto my lips. The bulky packaging and short lasting power are also other factors that turned me off on this lip butter. For the same price, I would much rather purchase a Revlon lip butter, which I know and love!

Flower Beauty Shine On Lip Gloss

My experiences with Flower Beauty have currently left me unimpressed with the brand in general. When the line debuted in the beginning of the year, I bought quite a few products all at once out of sheer excitement. I always enjoy trying new beauty products, but Flower Beauty keeps disappointing me with mediocre formulas and average quality. Usually a lip gloss is a product that I feel is a "safe bet" when trying new brands, but not this time!

 Iris I Could Fly Shine On Lip Gloss

Iris I Could Fly is a bright, cool-toned medium pink. This gloss is very pigmented, a little goes a long way. It can be worn sheer, or opaque depending on how much is applied. The applicator is a classic doe-foot. 

Claims: "Creamy, rich, and smooth gloss. Pillow-like softness on lips. Medium buildable coverage"
Finish/Texture: The finish is shiny and glossy, as expected. The texture is smooth, but it's also thick and sticky. My lips felt uncomfortable and almost as if the moisture is being taken away when I wore this gloss throughout the day.
Lasting Power: I only had about two hours of wear before the color started to fade.
Scent: There is a overpowering soapy/chemical scent that I find unbearable.
Packaging: The packaging is a sturdy plastic. I like that the tube is clear, that way you see what you get! The doe foot applicator is easy to use (also my favorite type of applicator).
Price/Availability: I paid $7 at Walmart

Likes:

• Beautiful color
• Doefoot applicator 

Dislikes:

• Thick, sticky texture
• Awful scent 
• Feels uncomfortable to wear throught the day
• Draws out moisture from the lips
• Only lasts 2 hours
• $7 is too high for the low quality 

Overall:
Unfortunately, this lip gloss gave a mediocre performance, leaving me with low expectations on Flower Beauty lip products as a whole. I enjoyed the color of Iris I Could Fly, but the texture and scent was dreadful. The texture was so thick and sticky that I felt like it actually took moisture out of my lips the longer I wore it. I found the overwhelmingly soapy scent unbearable, to the point where I didn't even want to wear the gloss. Overall, nothing stood out to me about the performance of this gloss, it actually disappointed me! I honestly wasn't expecting it to perform as badly as it did.

Flower Beauty Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color

Whenever a new makeup line debuts, I always have to try the lipsticks! I chose the brightest shade I could find within the range, Flamingo Flower. Flower Beauty is a new cosmetic line by Drew Barrymore (exclusively available at Wal Mart) that claims to use the same ingredients as high quality makeup.  

There are two different lipstick finishes Flower Beauty offers: Velvet and High Shine. Flamingo Flower is a velvet finish, which is a cream finish that feels like a matte. 

The velvet lipsticks come in white packaging, with a color swatch on the bottom.

Flamingo Flower Velvet Lip Color 

Flamingo Flower is a matte, cool toned bright fuchsia. I love the way it looks, but it feels so dry! Eyeshadow and foundation are also from Flower (You can read my foundation review here).


Claims: "Emollient oils improve shine for a rich, creamy application. Pure, intense color payoff. Not tested on animals."
Pigmentation: The pigmentation is strong and vibrant. 
Finish/Texture: The finish is creamy and matte. The formula is very drying, even when using a lip balm. I had to use more pressure than I usually do to get the color onto the lips.
Lasting Power: The lasting power is good, I got about 5 hours of wear. The problem is that is just feels too uncomfortable to wear for a full day.
Scent: This has a faint baby powder smell that fades off quickly.
Packaging: I don't enjoy the look of the white bulky tube, however I do like the color indicator on the bottom, and the secureness of the cap.
Price/Availability: I paid $7 at Wal Mart

• Variety of shades to choose from
• Good lasting power
• Color indicator on packaging/secure lid

Dislikes:

• Bulky design
• Feels dry/uncomfortable on the lips
• Application isn't smooth
• Quality doesn't feel high end

Overall:
I really adored the vibrant color of Flamingo Flower, but the "velvet" formula felt very uncomfortable on my lips. Even when I used a lip balm underneath, the formula made my lips feel dehydrated. I also noticed that the lipstick was difficult to apply compared to other drugstore lipsticks. I had to use more pressure than I normally use to apply it, which is such a bother. It didn't live up to feeling emollient or creamy. Nothing about this lipstick really felt high-end in quality to me. 

I won't be repurchasing any of the Flower velvet lipsticks, but I did recently buy a high shine one to test and review. I will also be reviewing the eyeshadow quad, which I'm already loving!

Flower Beauty About Face Foundation

World-famous actress and CoverGirl Drew Barrymore recently launched her own line of affordable cosmetics exclusively at Wal-Mart. The entire Flower Beauty line is cruelty-free, made in the USA,  and claims to be formulated with the same ingredients as luxury makeup! 

I bought four different products from the line total: the About Face Foundation, Shadow Play Eyeshadow Quad, Color Play Cream Shadow, and Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color (I posted on Instagram about it). First, I would like to talk about my experience with the About Face Foundation in shade LF1, the lightest shade available.

The packaging is nice at first glance, but a bit chunky for my taste. The bottle is made of thick glass, and the logo is cute. The rose-gold accents add a decorative touch.

Ok, this was the part I wasn't so happy about. This foundation has a pump, however it got jammed into the top. It was impossible to get out. I've never had this happen to me with a foundation before. It certainly didn't remind me of luxury.

On the left, the foundation is  freshly applied. It looks too dewy without a powder! Also, my freckles and redness were barely covered. On the right, is the foundation with powder and full face makeup. (The eyeshadow and lipstick are also from Flower Beauty, which I will be reviewing soon). I do like that this shade is fair enough to match my cool skin tone.

Claims:"Skin-smoothing moisture, Natural, seamless coverage, Smoothes imperfections and evens tone, Vitamins C&E for anti-aging benefits, Fragrance-free, Paraben-free"

Formula: This formula was too thick! I had a very difficult time applying this without it looking streaky and patchy. I tried using my fingers, various brushes, and eventually a sponge (which worked best for me).  It also felt slippery when I tried buffing it into my skin.

Coverage: The coverage is very sheer, which is a bit odd for a thick foundation. It was pretty much impossible for me to build up the tricky formula. 

Finish: The finish is too dewy for my skin. Without powder, it  looked horribly greasy. 

Lasting Power: I barely had four hours of wear before I needed a touch up.  The glowy finish peeks through rather quickly. I was touching up all night..

Scent: There was no scent to this foundation. 

Packaging: The bottle is cheap, my pump didn't even work! Instead, I had to wipe product from the wand of the pump. The design was a bit bulky, it's not my favorite look.

Price/Availability: I paid $15 with tax at Wal-Mart

• This shade matched my skin

Dislikes:

• Formula is too thick
• Difficult to apply
• Looks greasy without a powder
• Doesn't last long/needs multiple touch ups
• Didn't cover redness and freckles well
• $15 is expensive 
• Broken packaging
• Didn't feel high quality

Overall: 

The About Face Foundation didn't live up to any of it's claims, other than being unscented. I was expecting something easy to work with and of light consistency. Instead, I felt that this foundation was extremely difficult to work with and impossible to build coverage. It needs to be set with a powder, unless you want to look extremely dewy. I can't imagine it lasting long without a powder either, since I barely had four hours wear with a powder and setting spray! The packaging was broken before I even used it. Nothing about this foundation felt high quality.

For fifteen dollars at the drugstore, I expect something incredible. Especially when this line is supposed to mimic cosmetics of high-quality. There is a wide range of shades to choose from, which I appreciate. Fair shades are hard to come by at the drugstore, but that one aspect isn't good enough for me to keep using this foundation. Unfortunately, this product was a big disappointment.
