Love in Paris is a new line of palettes that were recently released for Spring 2013. There are twelve different palette shades to choose from, and I went with the neutral Parisian Chic.
Parisian Chic contains nine eyeshadows and a double ended sponge tip applicator. There are three different finishes in this palette: The top row are satin, the middle are matte, and the bottom are shimmer.
Claims: "Use this adorable travel friendly kit with the included applicator through every voyage and adventure for creating captivating looks and touch ups."
Pigmentation There isn't any pigmentation here! An eyeshadow primer would be a must.
Finish/Texture: There are various finishes as I explained above satin, matte, and shimmer. The texture of each shadow is dry and chalky. Some shades have lots of fallout too.
Lasting Power: I can't imagine these lasting long on the eyes at all. I didn't bother wearing them because of the poor pigmentation.
Packaging: The packaging is travel-friendly and has a sturdy design. The design is the best aspect of this palette! The cheap applicator doesn't have any use for me though.
Price Availability: I paid $10 at Target
Likes:
- Sturdy, convenient packaging
- Wide color selection
- Nice idea to have varying finishes/neutrals
- Poor pigmentation
- Tons of fallout
- Dry/chalky texture
- Primer is a must
I felt like this palette was just a waste. These shadows are so dry, difficult to work with, and have tons of fallout. The pigmentation is so poor, that a primer is a must. I prefer to buy and use eyeshadows that are already good quality on their own. I also wanted to mention that these smelled really odd, like chicken soup. I have no idea why they smell that way, but it grossed me out! The quality in the NYX single eyeshadows are a million times better than this palette.
When primer is a must, I'm less likely to wear an eyeshadow in general, so I personally would never use this palette. I returned it right after swatching!
Aw, sad to hear they were so terribly pigmented! I almost bought one of these palettes at Ulta but now I will think twice! NYX has awesome single shadows so I wonder how these ended up so awful.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing. The quality here is nothing like the singles!
DeleteThis would be an amazing palette if the shades were properly pigmented, the colours are perfect!

I know, I was so disappointed!
DeleteThis looks almost exactly the the Sonia Kashuk eye on neutral palette that I love, but most of the time I hate NYX shadows. I only like a few of their Nude Matte shades. If you haven't bought the SK palette, I highly recommend it!
ReplyDeleteOh, I haven't tried that one yet. Thanks for the recommendation!
DeleteHow rubbish is that?! NYX products are usually amazing in my opinion, these shades are so nice it's such a shame the pigmentation is poor. i laughed at the chicken soup comparison haha xx

I think so too, I'm not sure what was up with this palette :)
Deleteawe, its such a shame the colors weren't pigmented. they look so pretty in the palette though
ReplyDeleteI know :/
DeleteI'd never read of a product smelling like chicken soup before! Oh dear :S Sorry to hear that this product fell way short of expectations. The eyeshadows definitely don't look all that pigmented and I can imagine they would have tragic lasting power.
ReplyDeleteI know, that's the only smell I could compare it to! It really did smell that way, so odd. haha
DeleteThat is so unlike most NYX shadows! I hope all of their new packaging doesn't also mean new and poorer formulas.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe your Target sells NYX! I have never seen them at any in my area... Very jealous!
I know! But no worries, just this line of palettes has poor pigmentation. Yes, some Targets are now carrying NYX hope you find one soon :) Well, it's not the Target closest to me, but it's still in my area!
DeleteI was going to buy some of NYX's lipglosses on a Target run this weekend--have you ever used them? And if so, what do you think?
ReplyDeleteI hate the way that they smell! The smell is very strong and reminds me of cherry cough syrup. I actually have a review on three of them here:

How sad :( The pigmentation looks so "meh" even on the pictures. I like NYX eyeshadow singles but I find their multiple shadow palettes to be, mostly, misses for me.

This was my first time trying a palette from NYX, and will possibly be my last. I was so shocked by this! At least I know I'm not the only one experiencing this issue.
DeleteIts a shame about the pigmentation, because those colours looked really lovely from the palette. Nyx is usually a lot better than that, I hope you can still get some use out of them so that it wasn't a complete waste of money!

I know they are, I usually enjoy their products. Don't worry it has been returned :)
DeleteI have to agree with your blog on this one. I actually have this, but it sits with other makeup I don't use. Very cute small package when I picked it up and figured since it had neutral colors perhaps I would enjoy this little palette. Truth be told, I'm not a shimmer fan and the shadows are beyond too chalky and dry. Great review.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
